PRINCIPAL & CEO

Mr. Murgio brings over 20 years of experience in insurance, M&A advisory, and business development, with a track record of nearly $4 billion in deal value. He has worked with several multibillion-dollar insurance carriers, including Allstate, Munich Re, Allianz, Progressive, Morgan Stanley, AIG, and White Mountains. His expertise spans international markets—including the UK, Netherlands, Bermuda, and Latin America—as well as private equity startups and regional insurance carriers. Additionally, he has collaborated with various State Departments of Insurance, assisting companies in rehabilitation and liquidation. His experience encompasses the property, casualty, life, and health insurance sectors, working with carriers, managing general agencies, wholesalers, retailers, and third-party administrators.

In 2019, Mr. Murgio was named INVESTMENT BANKER OF THE YEAR by The M&A Advisor. Under his leadership, his firm was a finalist for BOUTIQUE INVESTMENT BANKING FIRM OF THE YEAR in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023, and was ultimately recognized as FINANCIAL ADVISORY FIRM OF THE YEAR in 2024 by the Insurance Insider.

A few of his notable transactions include:

 

  • Lead advisor in the divestiture of American Reliable Insurance Company and its Farm, Ranch, and Equine book to Everett Cash Mutual Insurance Company from Global Indemnity Group, LLC (NYSE: GBLI), which was awarded M&A DEAL OF THE YEAR in 2023 by The M&A Advisor.
  • Spearheading the 2021 sale of First American’s (NYSE: FAF) Property & Casualty Insurance to Liberty Mutual Holding Co. Inc. which was named the FINANCIAL DEAL OF THE YEAR by The M&A Advisor
  • Lead advisor on the 2021 sale of ITMA - International Transportation & Marine Agency to MS Amlin Insurance Group, which won CROSS-BORDER DEAL OF THE YEAR by The M&A Advisor.
  • White Mountains' (NYSE: WTM) $380 million acquisition of NSM Insurance Group and Group 1001’s acquisition of Lackawanna Insurance Group, both awarded CORPORATE/STRATEGIC DEAL OF THE YEAR by The M&A Advisor in 2018 and 2019, respectively. 

Before his M&A career, Mr. Murgio was the Founder and Managing Director of Venture Credit, LLC, a private equity firm focused on providing convertible debentures to middle-market companies. Prior to that, he worked as a private equity analyst for Landmark Partners and began his insurance career as a Registered Representative at Phoenix Home Mutual Life Insurance Company, specializing in business continuation planning and financial advisory for small to mid-sized businesses.

Mr. Murgio serves on the Board of Directors for Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company and Hudson Life & Annuity Company. He previously served on the board of Lannisport Marine & General Insurance Company before its acquisition by Dellwood Specialty. He is an active member of Target Markets, the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association, and the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and holds the following Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) licenses: Investment Banking Representative (Series 79), Corporate Securities Representative (Series 62), and Uniform Securities State Agent (Series 63).
